Finding the Path
Matt joined Goldfaden law after a distinguished career as a military office as part of the U.S. Navy JAG Corps. During that time, Matt enjoyed most championing the rights of individual sailors, who were often were lacked the power or tools to be the most effective advocate for themselves. Joining the fight for championing the underdog is ultimately what brings Matt the most professional satisfaction, and it’s why he joined Goldfaden Law after planting his roots in the San Diego area.

Overview And Experience
Matthew S. Benson, Esq. is a seasoned attorney whose diverse experiences shape the craft and care he approaches each client’s case with. A proud alumnus of Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego, Matt’s early leadership and commitment to excellence were evident when he was named captain of his college team in both Junior and Senior seasons and garnered All-American recognition in both years. After graduating with honors, his athletic journey then took him to Germany, where he played professional basketball, demonstrating his adaptability and team-focused mindset.
Pursuing his passion for law, Matt attended UCLA Law School from 2009-2012, distinguishing himself with top grades. His legal journey took a deeply personal turn inspired by family sacrifice – joining the Navy JAG Corps after his cousin, a Navy SEAL serving with Naval Special Warfare Development Group, was tragically shot down during the Extortion 17 mission in 2011. For the next decade, Matt has honed a wide range of legal skills by representing military service members, from young enlisted personnel to top-ranking officials, across various commands including the Naval Special Warfare Command, Navy Recruiting Command, and Naval Base Ventura County.
A true calling
During his career transition to the civilian sector, Matt explored a wide range of possible civilian career paths, in and out of the legal field. Personal injury and consumer law representation was the perfect fit. Driven by a profound commitment to championing the underdog, Matt’s approach to law is not just about winning cases; it’s about fighting for justice and making a real difference in people’s lives. With his unique blend of leadership, legal expertise, and heartfelt dedication, Matt Benson, Esq. stands out as a lawyer who not only excels in his field but also truly cares about his clients.
When not fighting tenaciously for his clients, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and toddler son.
